One b/w negative of musician Count Basie riding in a horse-drawn carriage through Aspen with Ralph Jackson, 1966. Count Basie was in Aspen for the first annual Aspen Jazz Festival, which took place at the Hotel Jerome September 19-20, 1966. There is a poster advertising the festival attached to the back of their carriage.

This was during the Invitational Snowmass Balloon Race, the first balloon race ever to be held in the Aspen area (according to the Aspen Times on July 15, 1976). The event was organized as one of the Roaring Fork Valley's Centennial-Bicentennial events by Betty Pfister.
