Description

Film titled "When a Town Thought Snow" produced for the Aspen Historical Society by Jack Hanna and Arabella Sundance in 1976 as part of the Colorado Centennial Project. The video is about the history of skiing in Aspen. It begins with the Highlands Bavarian Lodge. Billy Fiske and Billy Tagert are mentioned, as well as Andre Roch. There is also footage of the boat tow. Also covered in the film are the Tenth Mountain Division, Lifts One and Two, the Sundeck, Friedl Pfeifer, the Willoughby Jump, 1950 FIS, Winterskol, Fred Iselin, Highlands, Buttermilk, and Snowmass, Stein Ericksen, the 1968 Roch Cup and Interski, the 1976 Roch Cup, Andy Mill, Curt Chase, Aspenauts, NASTAR, Ralph Jackson, Jill St. John, Ski Splash, and Ashcroft ski touring.
