Description

Aspen Association film titled "Aspen Summer Mood." This film includes nearly all of the summer activities to be experienced in Aspen, the Snowmass Wilderness, Marble, Crystal, and Carbondale areas at the time of its making,1963. Local personalities in the opening scenes include Roberta Waterson, Sammy Craig (who became a ski coach at the University of Utah), Vivian and Bill Goodnough, and Jim Hayes. There are several scenes of the Aspen Music Festival, and the vice president of the Aspen Skiing Corporation is shown bicycling to Aspen Meadows. This is followed by brief shots of swimming at the Boomerang Lodge, tennis with Lefty Brinkman at the Aspen Meadows, exercising at the Meadows Health Center and a conference at the Aspen Institute. There are fishing and jeeping scenes, as well as shots of the Aspen Annual Horse Show, followed by horse jumping with Vivian Goodnough on the back of Colorado's famous "Charlie". There is a pack trip at Snowmass and Geneva Lakes, rock climbing in Marble with Outward Bound, sky diving with Jim Chelsey and Peter Guy, kayaking in Carbondale with Roger Paris and John Holdner, and sports car racing at the Woody Creek raceway.
