Full Map Collection

Description

The Full Map Collection consists of maps showing vast landscapes to the minutiae of mineral layers and ranch ownership to recreational opportunities. Maps are a representation of place; a moment in time based on the cartographer’s purpose and ability to transfer it to paper. This selection of maps and diagrams, dating from the 1870s thru present, illustrates resources that played a locally significant role and how priorities changed over time. They record how the area surrounding Aspen was transformed by the availability and proximity of changing resources; from mining ore to mining snow.
