Description

One digitized 16 mm film of the 1950 FIS World Championships in Aspen. The film was shot by Paul and Ralph Lafferty, during a ski trip to Aspen. Both men were Tenth Mtn. Division veterans. The footage features driving into Aspen with the FIS sign and Castle Creek bridge, giant slalom, slalom and downhill races on Slalom Hill and Niagra; as well as Lift One, Sundeck (11:00), skiing on Buckhorn (10:15) and a large log house in Glenwood Springs that belonged to Ralph Lafferty's father-in-law. The downhill racers ski by the Veteran Mine Tippler. There are short clips of the Hotel Jerome and Main Street at the beginning of the film.
